Notice from East Farleigh Parish Council on traffic issues

Update on Traffic Issues Due to Teston Bridge Closure
Dear Residents,
We understand the frustration caused by the recent increase in traffic congestion in East Farleigh, particularly around East Farleigh Bridge. This situation has arisen due to the temporary closure of Teston Bridge, which has diverted more vehicles onto local routes as drivers seek alternative crossings.
East Farleigh Parish Council has reached out to Kent County Council (KCC) and the Streetworks team to discuss possible solutions to alleviate the traffic burden on East Farleigh Bridge. Unfortunately, we have been informed that, due to the nature of the closure and existing limitations on our roadways, there are currently no measures that can be implemented to ease the situation in the short term.
It is important to note that the official diversion route does not direct traffic over East Farleigh Bridge. However, we understand that drivers unfamiliar with local routes may still attempt to use the bridge, which has increased traffic delays and created challenges for residents navigating the area. We encourage all residents to be aware of these potential delays, especially during peak times, and where possible, consider alternate routes to avoid the busiest areas near the bridge.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this challenging period. The Parish Council will continue to monitor the situation closely and communicate any further updates or changes to the road network. Should you have any questions or wish to discuss this matter further, please feel free to reach out to us directly.
Sincerely,
East Farleigh Parish Council
