Public Consultation – EFPC Play Area Vicarage Lane

November 2022 – Consultation on upgrading the playground in EF Recreation Ground

Consultation on upgrading the playground at East Farleigh Recreation Ground.

East Farleigh Parish Council is keen to improve the tired play area. We propose to carry out the following works:

  1. Replace all the existing surfacing
  2. Replace one item of equipment
  3. Add two new equipment items along with new surfacing
  4. Paint the existing swing bases
  5. Add two new benches and a new bin

The total costs of works will be in the region of £33,000.00.

Please see quotation and design (below) for full details.

Maidstone Borough Council have pledged to pay £2,500.00 towards this.

We also have approximately £2,000.00 CIL (Construction Infrastructure Levy) which can be used towards the total cost.

The remaining balance would be used from East Farleigh Parish’s funds.

Please take the opportunity to complete this consultation form regarding the proposed new improved play area.

  1. Existing play equipment is very tatty looking and needs updating for children to make the most of this play area.

  2. Please upgrade the play area

  3. There are some very attractive pieces of playground equipment nowadays which blend better with a rural setting. I hope the PC will look around at different styles before deciding, and choose paint colours which complement the area.

  4. Excellent idea, there has been no investment into this play area for a very long time, only on-going running repairs. Just some other funding sources to consider to reduce the cost upon the Parishioners, Kent County Playing Fields Association: https://www.kentpfa.org.uk/ Suez Communities Trust: https://www.suezcommunitiestrust.org.uk/
Biffa Award: https://www.biffa-award.org/recreation/ (Biffa currently hold MBC Waste & Recycling Collection Contract) Members Devolved Budgets of local KCC and MBC Councillors.

  5. The playground needs updating, its about the only one we visit that hasn’t had any money spent on it, possible since it was first installed? West farleigh and Barming have funded some lovely creations. It seems a bit of a make do and mend for only a very small number of new items.
